These are the steps to root Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G360G running on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update with the help from the Odin flashing tool and Chainfire’s CF-Auto-Root.

REQUIREMENTS

• You need the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime smartphone with the SM-G360G model number. You can find out the model number of your Samsung Galaxy Core Prime by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Model Number.
• The rooting exploit by Chainfire in this guide is based on the LMY48B.G360GDXU1BOJ3 firmware which is part of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update. We know that it does not mean you need to be running that same firmware build ID on your Samsung Galaxy Core Prime smartphone; it is there to be used as an indicator only.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

• Download the Samsung USB Drivers for the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime smartphone and install them on the computer before you start with the steps.
• You must have a Windows computer to use this guide or else you will not get the Odin flashing tool in this guide to work. Samsung never officially released the flashing tool and the version that did eventually leak was made for Windows operating systems only; therefore, it’s the Windows operating system you need to be running.

HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY CORE PRIME SM-G360G RUNNING ANDROID 5.1.1

1. Download the new CF-Auto-Root package for the G360G on 5.1.1 from this link.
2. Extract the file on the desktop of the computer. You should see the Odin flashing tool and the rooting exploit.
3. Double-click the Odin executable and run the same so it’s open on the desktop and ready to use.
4. Turn off the smartphone and reboot it in download mode.
5. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime to the computer with the USB cable.
6. Wait a few seconds fr the USB Drivers to start working and then check the drivers did work by looking for the “added” message.
7. Click the AP button and browse the desktop for the rooting exploit you extracted to the desktop earlier.
8. Make sure the Auto Reboot and the F Reset Time option are on and the Re-partition option is off.
9. Click the Start button when you are ready for the flashing to begin.
10. Wait until you get the ‘pass’ message from the Odin app on the computer and then check the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime’s display for when it says it is about to reboot in 10 seconds.

Every Samsung Galaxy Core Prime should now reboot in recovery mode; any device that does not get in recovery mode must get there manually using the hardware key combination. You can boot to recovery mode by turning off the device and then holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons when rebooting.
