How to root Samsung Galaxy A7 SM-A710 (2016) on Android 5.1.1 [Guide]

samsung-galaxy-a7-2016These are the guidelines to root Samsung Galaxy A7 SM-A710 using your custom recovery and the SuperSU app. That same SuperSU app is made by Chainfire and is going to be granting your Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone the rooting permissions you need when installing those awesome root-requiring apps.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have a custom recovery installed on the Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone before you can follow this guide. You can learn how to install TWRP Recovery on the SM-A710M, SM-A710Y, SM-A710FD, SM-A710F.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

  • Download the Samsung USB Drivers for the Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone and install them on the Windows computer before getting stuck into the guide after the jump. It’s the USB Drivers that are going to help your Windows operating system and the Odin flashing tool pick up your device.
  • Rooting the Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone does void the warranty. Any Samsung device that comes with Knox will be tripped during this guide. You can install unroot and flash a stock recovery on the device, but it will not be under warranty.

HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY A7 SM-A710

  1. Download the SuperSU by Chainfire from this link and have it waiting on the desktop of your computer.
  2. Connect the Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone to the computer with the USB cable.
  3. Copy the SuperSU over to the internal storage SD card and make sure it’s the root of your A7’s SD card.
  4. Unplug your Galaxy A7 from the computer once you know the SuperSU is on the SD card.
  5. Boot the Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone to recovery mode and the TWRP you have installed earlier will boot. You can usually get to recovery mode by holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons when booting the device starting from the off position.
  6. Choose the ‘Backup’ button from the main TWRP menu and proceed to take the NANDroid Backup just in case you want to restore your data later.
  7. Select the ‘Install’ option from the main menu and choose the option to upload files from the SD card.
  8. Browse your A7’s SD card for the SuperSU app by Chainfire and swipe the bottom of the screen where it says swipe to confirm.

Choose the ‘Reboot System’ option from the main recovery menu and the Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone will now reboot to normal mode and you can find the SuperSU you just installed available from the app drawer.
