Timelapse videography is amazing. For those that don’t know, timelapse videos are videos in which you see a much accelerated version of time: the clouds roll by quickly, and the sun arcs across the sky in minutes. Unfortunately, capturing timelapse videos on your phone has long been impossible, as in the past, devices have had low-resolution video cameras and general bad quality. Now, with the current generation of devices, it’s possible to get great-looking pictures without any need for a special camera and a special camera stand.
For those who still aren’t sure what exactly a timelapse video is, watch this short video created by the developers that shows off a couple of timelapse shots of the sky:
You’ll notice that the timelapse has a different feel than any other videos due to its unique detached feeling. Lapse It lets you take this type of video on your phone, and lets you process it quickly with its custom-made, ultra-fast rendering engine. (Your phone may never take amazing photos of the moon, though.)
The Free version of Lapse It is designed to get your feet wet, as it doesn’t let you use the full resolution of your sensor to capture video, and you can’t use the front-facing camera. Luckily, there aren’t any restrictions of video length. Overall, Lapse It is a nice program for capturing superspeed versions of anything that moves. The resulting videos can be amazing.
