Oppo may not be a popular smartphone manufacturing company, but it surely turned some head a few months ago by releasing the world’s thinnest smartphone, Oppo Finder. And now, the company is back with another whopping device, the world’s thinnest quad-core smartphone, Oppo Find 5 X990.

The Oppo Find 5 X990 is an Android-based phablet with a 5-inch display and quad-core processor, and claims to be the world’s thinnest quad-core based smartphone… and that’s not all. The smartphone sports a 5-inch display with the resolution of 1920×1080, which means not only full 1080p but also, wait for it, a shocking 441 ppi. This is definitely higher than the current popular phones out there including Nokia Lumia 920 with 332 ppi, iPhone 5 with 326 ppi, Samsung Galaxy S3 with 306 ppi, and HTC Rezound with 342 ppi.

If the X990 display was closer to 500-600 PPI it would actually in the territory of paper-like LCDs, which is really stunning.

According to IT168, the phablet is still just a prototype and the specs we are seeing now can change.  However, what we do know about the world’s thinnest quad-core phone is that the device will be running Android 4.1  Jelly Bean out-of-the-box and will be sporting a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor under the hood. There are rumors that the smartphone will have a non-removable battery to achieve the thinness.

Unfortunately this phone is made by a Chinese company so we don’t know how much it will cost when released, when it will be released, and if it will ever see the light of day outside China. But we’ll be keeping an eye on this one.
