I have a friend who just got a promotion at work, and was trying to calculate how much his pay bump would end up netting him in terms of his annual pay. As someone who’s not exactly good at math, I’m always looking for ways to do these simple calculations in an app: I could do them by hand, but an app can do it faster and more accurately than I ever could. Thankfully, there is a handy calculator app called CalcMoolator PRO that allows users to get quick answers to common personal finance queries.
What is it and what does it do
Main Functionality
CalcMoolator PRO does fast calculations to help people with common finance questions. Featuring dozens and dozens of calculator tools, you can get answers to common questions like “How much does $X per hour work out to as a yearly salary?” or “How long will it take me to pay off my credit cards?” or “How much money should I budget for the expenses of the first year of my child’s life?”
Pros
- Huge array of calculators for all kinds of financial needs: credit cards, business, debt consolidation, insurance, investments, savings, mortgages, taxes, retirement, and more. The app supports “over 180” calculators.
- Calculators are organized by topic area for ease of browsing
- Easy to send feedback from within the app
- No annoying ads!
Cons
- No way to search for calculators to find them more quickly
- There is a short wait between selecting a calculator tool and being able to start using it, as the app needs to connect to the CalcMoolator servers
- Hasn’t been updated for 2011 (a problem, since some of these calculators are related to tax season!)
Discussion
Contrary to what some user reviews would have you believe, CalcMoolator PRO doesn’t require users to receive their results by email. You can opt-in to have your results email to you for later references, but it’s not required by any means.
Just fill out the answers to the questions on the screen, and you’re good to go. The length of time it takes to answer the questions depends on what you are trying to calculate.
There is a really staggering array of calculator tools here. In addition to those listed above, other helpful calculators included in this app include tools to determine how early you can pay off your car, tools to balance the benefits of renting vs. buying your home, and tools to determine profit margins for your business. I can’t imagine a user not being able to find a need to use at least one of these tools at some point.
The app is a little bare bones, and it would be nice to have a search function to save users from scrolling constantly to find the right tool for the job. Despite not being updated since 2011, there are some solids tools here.
Conclusion and download link
It’s the 21st Century. Quit wracking your brain when you have to balance your checkbook or make financial plans for your future: this handy app will do the heavy lifting. Let this app tell you what you’ll need to reach your financial goals, so that you can just focus on earning the money to meet those goals.
