With the plethora of touch screen smartphones and the number of touches these screen receive each day, they are bound to be dirty and germy. However Corning — makers of the now well known Gorilla Glass — have developed a screen with an anti-microbial coating which is capable of killing germs on its own. For those of you who don’t know, Gorilla Glass is a protective glass cover used in many mobile phones these days and is capable of withstanding what some would consider extreme forces.

The new development is capable of killing practically all germs on a display surface over a period of two hours. This newest iteration of Gorilla Glass is also expected to be as transparent as purified water! Coupled with the well known strength of displays made by Corning, this will no doubt be the company’s most formidable display technology.

No word yet on when the new glass will be released, but I certainly am waiting patiently.
