The Samsung galaxy Note 4 comes in several different versions with different model numbers that can be attributed to different phone carrier networks. Furthermore, it also comes with a few different software updates now that after owning the device people have found several OTA’s coming their way. If you are running the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat build with a revamped phone dialer and a Google security patch, you can root that version by following the guide below.
REQUIREMENTS
- The Note 4 comes in different models. Only follow this guide if you have the SM-N910G LTE version. Check that by turning on the Note and navigating to Settings > About Device.
- You want to be running Android 4.4.4 KitKat software. Check that by looking at the same About Device menu. The following might not work for those running Android 5.0 Lollipop and above, since Google might patch the exploit.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
- Download the Samsung Galaxy USB drivers to the computer. Restart the computer for the drivers to take effect.
- You can only use a Windows-based PC and not any other operating system on the computer. It doesn’t work for Mac or Linux.
- The following will void the warranty of your device. That means you can no longer send it away for free repairs. Flash the stock Android software manually again after having root access to make the warranty work again. You can also install third-party application from the Google Play Store to achieve the same.
