After a long wait time, Microsoft finally released a new build (10041) for Windows 10 Technical Preview yesterday. As usual, this build still has many bugs. One of them will break your Mail, Calendar and People apps. Fortunately, Microsoft provided a quick way to fix this.
To make your bundle of Mail, Calendar and People apps work again, you can follow these steps.
• Type “Powershell” into the search box on the Taskbar. Then right click/long tap the result Windows PowerShell and select “Run as Administrator.” Hit Yes if there is any dialog appears.
• Now you need to copy this command provided by Microsoft:
Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like "*windowscommunicationsapps*"} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Go back to PowerShell window, you need to right click/long tap on the PowerShell icon at the top left corner of the window, choose Edit -> Paste to paste the command into PowerShell.
• Hit enter to run the command.
• Now you have to open the old Store app to reinstall those apps. Type “Store” into the search box on the Taskbar and select the GREEN Store icon; not the grey “Store (Beta).”
• In the Store window, simply type “Mail” and you will see the result for “Mail, Calendar and People.” Hit it and install the bundle.
• Finally, restart your device and these apps should work normally.
