Are you the owner of the new LG G4 flagship smartphone and waiting patiently for a rooting guide to finally arrive? The wait is finally over for all owners. The guide below is made for Verizon subscribers only and shouldn’t be followed by any other US-based subscribers or International subscribers.
REQUIREMENTS
- Use the guide on the Verizon handset only.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
- Download the ADB and fastboot drivers on your Windows computer so you don’t run into any driver issues.
- Download the rooting package you need for the verizon variant.
- Download the Send_Commands tool here.
- Download the LG USB Drivers direct to the Windows computer you are using with the guide.
HOW TO ROOT THE LG G4 ON ANDROID 5.1
- Extract the Send_Command tools package and the rooting package to the desktop on the computer.
- If you run into any trouble, right-click the mouse over the package and choose extract it here.
- Open the command prompt Windows from within the Command tools folder by right-clicking the mouse and holding SHift while selecting the open command windows here option from the menu.
- Boot the G4 in Download Mode by turning it off, holding the Volume Up button and connecting it to the computer while still holding Volume Up.
- Double click the ports.bat file which is inside the Send_Commands tool folder after you extracted it. Look for the COM number and keep it in mind.
- Type your first command in the command windows: “Send_Command.exe \\.\COM2” but replace the number 2 with the correct number you found for the COM port.
- Type the next command: “id” and press enter.
– you should end up with a string similar to this “text ‘uid=(0)root gid=(0)root’”. If you don’t see that, re-type the commands and try again. - Once you are happy you see the previous commands, type this: “dd if=/data/media/0/system.rooted.H81110h.img bs=8192 seek=65536 count=548352 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0”.
- The command will now take some minutes to complete rooting your smartphone.
- Type “LEAVE”and your device will reboot.
- Now you are ready to starting thinking about installing a custom recovery image and flashing some custom ROMs.
