You can get the extension from the Chrome web store. Make sure both the systems have this installed before you start to use Google Chrome to remotely access your computer. The extension is around 23 MB, but does not take much time to install. Once you’re done with installing, open the Google Chrome remote access tool.

Setting up Google Remote Desktop Extension

When you’re opening the tool for the first time, it will ask you to grant permission to access your system. Continue with the process and then click on the “Allow Access” button. You must be logged into your Gmail account during this time.

From the My Computers section in the Google Chrome remote access tool, click on “Get Started” and then click on the “Enable remote connections” button. A pop-up window will be displayed where you have to make up and enter a 6 digit PIN for security reasons to access your computer. Make a note of the PIN. Once you are done with entering a valid 6 digit PIN click on the “OK” button and then click on “Confirm” after entering the PIN again in the Account Control dialog box.

Setting Up the Second System for Remote Access

Now, repeat the same steps on the other computer that you will be using to remotely access your computer. Here, you must ensure you are using the same Google account for setting up the remote access.

Now, click on the Get Started button and you can see the machine name of the computer on the screen. Now, click on the name of the computer you want to remotely access and then enter the PIN you have set. Once you have entered the PIN, click on the “Connect” button.

Now, you are connected to the computer via remote access. You can also see the disconnect button. When you click on it you will be disconnected from the system and the other computer.

Conclusion

Using Google Chrome to remotely access your computer is the same as using any other client to remotely connect to other systems. Performance wise, there is not much difference. Hence, using Google Chrome to remotely access your computer is becoming one of the most popular ways to remotely access your system from other systems.
