About Android Apps of the Day

Android has over 450,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our Android Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! Hambo

Hambo is an Angry Birds-like game in which you play a war hero – Hambo – who must save his best friend Bacon from then enemy. You play Hambo by aiming and shooting the enemies on each stage (similar to how you shoot birds at pigs in Angry Birds); as you progress further in the game, different physics appear such as bouncing bullets off walls and breaking ice blocks. There are over 200 levels for you to play which unlock as you progress, or if you are impatient, you can make an in-app purchase which unlocks all levels in addition to removing ads. There is an in-game store which you use in-game coins to purchase things like skins for Hambo.

Greeting Card Maker

Greeting Card Maker is an app that allows users to create their very own greeting cards. Greeting cards consist of backgrounds, clips, text, and pencil drawings. Greeting Card Maker comes with dozens of backgrounds and clips for you to use with the option to add your own from camera or SD card; text is any text that you want to add and pencil drawings are drawings you create yourself. In total, there are 500+ backgrounds and clips with the free version of Greeting Card Maker coming with five “packs” of backgrounds/clips; the remaining packs come in the Pro (paid) version. (The free version still has a good number of backgrounds and clips to pick from, so don’t worry.) The best part is the backgrounds/clips are actually pretty well designed so any cards you create won’t look that bad. Once you create a greeting card you can either send it using e-mail, messaging, or any app that accepts image inputs or save the greeting card to your SD card.

If you don’t want to create your own greeting card, Greeting Card Maker also comes with ‘Ready Greeting’ which are premade greeting cards you can use. (There is no information on how many premade greeting cards there are.) In addition, there is a ‘Event Reminder’ which reminds of you major holidays throughout the year plus any custom events you add.

Kaleidoscope Drawing Pad

Brought to use by the makers of Paint Joy, Kaleidoscope Drawing Pad is an app that allows users (in particular, kids) the ability to draw beautiful kaleidoscope patterns very easily. Kaleidoscope Drawing Pad comes with six kaleidoscope patterns and ten brush strokes, allowing you to mix and match as you wish. There is an eraser tool to erase what you draw, an undo function to undo your strokes, or you can simply start over fresh with a new clean canvas.

Once you have created a drawing, there is a ‘Movie’ mode that allows you to play back your work; and a ‘Save’ button which saves your work as an image on the SD card.
