About Android Apps of the Day
Android has over 450,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our Android Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! Apps for July 24, 2012
“I Will Wake Up!” Alarm Clock
Do you wake up late all the time? You’ll both hate and love this app. “I Will Wake Up!” posts to Facebook to convince you to get up.
The way IWWU works is by using your Facebook friends to encourage you to get up. You post your determination to wake up”, and by the pure virtue of all of your Facebook friends having nothing better to do than see if you got up, you’ll be motivated to get up. If you get up on time, congrats! IWWU requires you to answer three basic mathematical calculations, and when you’re done, your victory will be posted to Facebook.
If you fail? Your friends will know. IWWU also automatically post failure to get up on Facebook.
If you’re looking for a rather new and unique approach to alarm clocks, try IWWU. What’s there to lose?
Price: Free!

Spotify
Is listening to music one of your favorite pastimes? I listen to music the vast majority of time I am sitting at a computer using the free music streaming service Spotify, and their mobile app lets you listen to unlimited music either cached to your device or streaming from the cloud 24×7 if you sign up for one of their subscription accounts.
Spotify brings millions of songs to your phone with great ease. You can cache your playlists and favorite songs, enabling you to play them even without destroying your data plan or even worse when you’re truly offline. You can also sync your own MP3s to your phone, in case that obscure indie band you’ve downloaded isn’t available on Spotify.
Spotify is pretty much a music-lover’s dream, and for a minimal fee of only $9.99 a month, it’s a great deal for anyone who loves music.
Price: Requires $9.99 subscription (30 day free trial)
Requires: Android 2.2+
Download size: 2.6MB
The Weather Channel
Looking to get the latest in weather on your phone as quickly as possible? The Weather Channel is at your service, bringing you “the most accurate and relevant” weather info whenever you need it with their Android app.
The Weather Channel lets you view day, week, and even hourly forecasts, and view current weather information including cloud coverage, temperature, dew point, wind, UV, visibility, sunrise, sunset, and more. It also has radar maps with Google Maps, and severe weather warnings for those in the US or Europe.
It’s a fairly non-standard app, and while it’s not too ugly, it can feel a little out of place if your device has an otherwise unifying graphical theme. If you’re looking for the weather and want detailed information over a little graphical beauty, however, The Weather Channel is the app for you.
Price: Free!
Requires: Android 2.1+
Download size: 4.0MB
