Camera Effects

Do you find your photos coming out less than amazingly fantastic and thought to yourself that the only thing that could make them better would be cheesy photo filters? Good news, Instagram fan! Camera Effects is here to take the burden away from your image-sharing social network apps: you can add effects right after taking them, and save them to your Gallery.

Of course, every camera filter app is only as good as the number of filters it has. That’s why Camera Effects boldly states they offer “Holga, Lomo, black & white, thermal, and many more camera filters and effects”, meaning you’ll never run out of effects! Plus, it supports photo sharing, meaning your new vintage photos can be directly scanned onto the retinas of all your friends via email, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Viewdle, or any other photo-sharing app. If you’re having trouble getting the perfect shot, it also luckily supports basic digital zoom.

Overall, Camera Effects is an awesome app that lets you add cool features to your otherwise boring photos. Who doesn’t love photos absolutely plastered in beautiful effects? I know I adore them. However, if you or your friends don’t, do the world a favor and only use effect apps like Camera Effects sparingly. It’s nice for one-off effects, but don’t rely on it as many do effect apps.

Dictionary – Merriam-Webster

Looking up words is serious business. Unfortunately, most dictionary apps are annoyingly online-only, and rely on secret, unknown sources for their definitions. Merriam-Webster’s free Dictionary app lets you check any definitions you want without any internet connection at all.

Of course, if you have internet, you’ll get some awesome ads. The internet also brings in voice search and audio pronunciations, which is entirely awesome. Voice search is especially helpful if you don’t actually know how to spell the word you’re looking up. You can also have the word of the day, helpful for anyone wishing to expand their vocabulary. Since it uses Merriam-Webster’s impressive dictionary, it also provides great definitions for any word you want.

Overall, Merriam-Webster is a great dictionary app. It provides pronunciations, voice search, and of course definitions. If you’re using another dictionary app, or simply looking for an offline dictionary app, take a look at Merriam-Webster. It’s quite easy to use, and is entirely free.

Fooducate – Healthy Food Diet

Dieting can be a real pain in the delicious food. Plus, how can you know what to buy if you can’t tell how healthy it is? Fooducate is a free app that lets you scan the barcode from any food product, then get instant information on the food, both good and bad.

If you scan some Cranberry Almond Crunch, for instance, you’ll be warned that it’s not 100% whole grain at all. It’ll also warn you of excess sugar and a controversial additive. You also get a link to explanations of various natural and artificial additives, as well as a grade rating, number of calories, and a liking rating. It supports much more than just Cranberry Almond Crunch, though: there are over 200,000 unique UPCs supported.

Fooducate is a great way to help yourself eat healthier. It lets you know what exactly is in each item, as well as dietitian’s and concerned parent’s warnings about each item. It’s very easy to use, and is entirely free: download it today!
