If you are a big pool player or just a fan of playing pool apps on your iPhone, I recommend giving Pro Pool 2012 a try. The new app has an incredible high definition 3D user interface that makes you feel like you are right in the action. The physics involved with taking the individual shots is also spot on.
Pool Party 2012 has four different options for game play: a practice game, a quick play game, tournament event, or a league event. The practice mode lets you play without an opponent, get used to the game, and try a whole different bunch of shots. Quick Play allows you to play a custom game versus the computer or a friend. The final two game options, tournament and league events, are in-app purchases that allow you to play against the computer in multiple game events. The tournament consists of round-robin play and the league is set up like pool play when everyone plays each other once.
I enjoyed playing around with this game due to how incredibly real it seems. The developer does a great job by providing 3 separate profiles you can create and matching statistical analysis of your games and progression. Pro Pool 2012 also provides multiple skill levels (rookie, amateur, pro-am, professional, legend) so that anyone can literally play this game and not feel overwhelmed by the computer. The are a few free customizations for the rack, along with the color and shape of the board.
Please note that Pro Pool 2012 is riddled with in-app purchases. I was impressed enough with programming that I wanted to share it, but many of the intriguing options are indeed paid. I personally didn’t need any of the extras, which is why I enjoyed playing the game.
