Stunning aerial photo of New York City after Sandy shows a large part of the city in darkness [Amazing Photo of the Day]

Yesterday we saw a few photos of powerless New York City, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy (or Storm Sandy, as some alliteration fans like to call it). While those photos are, without a doubt, great, they didn’t do a very good job of putting the situation into perspective. Today I have another photo on the topic of after-Sandy-New-York-City. This one, however, is a bit more striking than what we saw yesterday simply because you can see just how much of the city is without power compared to the parts of the city that does have power. Check it out:

Note: This is actually the front cover of New York Magazine — the photo was featured there.

Striking, indeed.

hey Ashraf! Thanks to this post! Im really impressed by the aerial photography of NYC after the incident of Sandy. Im impressed by the lighting and the angle of this image. What’s more amazing is the part of NYC which is covered by darkness brought by Sandy. I love the caption. This photo is really amazing! Cheers to that! God bless Yankees!
