The Gionee Elife E3 has been around since it came with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. The Indian manufacturer of smartphones was nice enough to continue rolling out many Android OS updates passed then and eventually settling with Android 4.4.2 KitKat which is still one of the most popular Android operating system versions today. Now you can root Gionee Elife E3 on Android 4.4.2 KitKat by following the guide after the jump.
Once you have access to that Gionee root file system, you can start thinking about installing new apps like the NANDroid Manager. Most people know the word ‘NANDroid’ after installing a custom recovery like TWRP recovery or CWM recovery. Taking a NANDroid backup is the default backup option from the custom recovery. The NANDroid Manager app is available for people once they get root access on the Gionee device. Once you have both root access and a custom recovery installed, you can take a NANDroid backup with your recovery and then restore dedicated partitions at a time with the NANDroid manager app.
REQUIREMENTS
- The Framaroot one-click rooting app does work for a number of devices. However, we only recommend you follow this guide using the Gionee Elife E3 smartphone to avoid any confusion. Otherwise, you can check the full list of compatible devices from this XDA Developers page.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
- You are agreeing to void the warranty on your Gionee Elife E3 smartphone and you can only get that warranty working again if you unroot the device. Luckily for you, the Framaroot one-click rooting method does come with a simple unrooting solution using the same app.
HOW TO ROOT GIONEE ELIFE E3 RUNNING ANDROID 4.4.2 KITKAT
- Download the Framaroot file from this page directly to the computer and shift it over to the desktop.
- Connect the Gionee Elife E3 smartphone to the computer and transfer the APK file over to the root of the SD card.
- Unplug the device from the computer once you know you have the Framaroot app on the SD card.
- On your device, navigate to the Menu > Settings > Security > Unknown Sources and enable the same.
- Launch any File Manager app on your device. It should work regardless of the File manager you have. Those of you without any File manager will have to install one from the Google Play Store.
- Tap and open the Framaroot app from your app drawer.
- Select the Boromir option from the menu.
- Wait for that same Boromir exploit to root your Elife E3 device.
- Reboot the smartphone when you get the success message from the app.
Now that your Gionee Elife E3 is rooted, you can browse the Google Play Store for those root-requiring apps you have been waiting for. You might want to start with the NANDroid Manager we were talking about earlier.
