These are the guidelines to root LG G2 Lite smartphones using the PurpleDrake method. We know from searching on forums that people have had success using this tool for the Lite variant of the G2 smartphone.
REQUIREMENTS
- You must have a Windows computer to follow this guide using this version of the PurpleDrake rooting exploit. There are other versions of the same tool available for Mac and Linux machines. Find those and follow those guides if you do not have a Windows operating system — this guide will not work for you.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
- You must turn on the USB Debugging Mode from the Developer Options menu before you can start with the guide. You can do that now by tapping over the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
- Sometimes you must enable the Developer Options menu before you can see the same appearing from the Settings. You can do that if you need it by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Tap the build number a total of seven times. It will start counting you done with how many remaining taps you have before it’s unlocked. Finally you will see that it says you are now using the LG G2 Lite smartphone as a developer.
HOW TO ROOT LG G2 LITE USING THE PURPLEDRAKE ROOTING TOOL
- Download the PurpleDrake rooting exploit from this link and have it on the desktop of your computer.
- Right-click the mouse over the file and choose the “extract here” option from the menu.
- Double-click over the executable file so the PurpleDrake program opens on the computer.
- Connect your LG G2 Lite smartphone to the computer using the USB cable.
- The PurpleDrake tool should detect your device and issue you a set of on-screen instructions to follow. Follow them all the way until the end and it should tell you that you have rooted your G2 Lite handset successfully.
- Close the PurpleDrake tool on the desktop and reboot the smartphone before doing anything else.
- Head directly to the app drawer and check that you have the SuperSU installed. Tap on the same SuperSU icon and check if it prompts you to update the SU binaries. Proceed to update the SU binaries if you need to so the SuperSU is working properly.
Open the Google Play Store and install the basic root checker app to see if you have successfully rooted the device.
