How to root Samsung Galaxy Alpha SM-G850F on Android 5.0.2 [Guide]

Samsung Galaxy AlphaThese are the steps to root Samsung Galaxy Alpha SM-G850F running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop using a Windows computer and the Odin flashing tool which is made by Samsung developers.

We do not recommend flashing the CF-Auto-Root file just after a new software update has rolled out. New a software updates sometimes require Chianifire to unlock the bootloader again before the rooting method will work. He makes those updates to the same file that is in the post, but it can take a few days before he finds out about what file needs updating.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have the Samsung Galaxy Alpha with the model number SM-G850F to follow this guide.
  • The CF-Auto-Root package in this post is based on the LRX22G.G850FXXU2COI3 firmware which is part of Android 5.0.2 software updates. You do not have to be running that same build number. Chainfire will update the tool to continue working with new software updates past that build ID. However, we only recommend you follow this guide for Android 5.0.2 to make sure you do not ever brick your device.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

  • Download the Samsung USB Drivers for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and the Windows computer from our USB Driver download page.
  • Unlock the hidden Developer Options menu on your Alpha by tapping over the Menu > Settings > About Device > Build Number. Keep tapping that build number for at least seven times and it will say on the display when it thinks yo are a developer.
  • Enter the Developer Options and enable the USB Debugging Mode by tapping over the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
