These are the guidelines to root Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G360T1 smartphones running on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update. The following tutorial uses the CF-Auto-Root by popular hacker, Chainfire, and the Odin flashing tool by Samsung which never saw an official release.
REQUIREMENTS
- The following guide is made for the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime smartphone with the model number SM-G360T1 only. You can check your model number by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Model Number.
- You will find a version of the CF-Auto-Root one-click rooting tool in this guide that is based on LMY47X.G360T1UVU1AOFA firmware and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. That same LMY47X.G360T1UVU1AOFA firmware build number only rolled out for some regions and not all regions. As such, it is not a requirement that you install that firmware on your Samsung Galaxy Core prime smartphone before you start the guide. You should use it as an indicator only. Some Samsung smartphones like the Core Prime have a habit of not booting old images.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
- Download the Samsung USB Drivers for the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime and install them on the computer you are planning on using during the guide. Keep in minds that the computer must be Windows-based.
- Enable the USB Debugging Mode on your Samsung Galaxy Core Prime by tapping on the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY CORE PRIME SM-G360T1 RUNNING ANDROID 5.1.1
- Download the CF-Auto-Root for the G360T1 on Android 5.1.1 from this link.
- Drag the CF-Auto-Root file over to the desktop and extract the contents on the desktop. You will see the Odin and your rooting file inside.
- Double-click and run the Odin flashing tool so it is open on the desktop.
- Get the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime G360T1 in download mode and then connect it to the computer with the USB cable.
- Wait for a few moments for the drivers to start working and then check the Odin flashing tool’s user-interface for the “added” message. No “added” message suggests your drivers are not working and may need to be installed properly. Alternatively, try rebooting the computer.
- Click the PDA or the AP button that is on the Odin app and browse the desktop of the computer for the CF-Auto-Root package.
- Do not adjust any of the default settings the Odin user-interface has to offer.
- Click the Start button and the Odin app will now flash that rooting exploit on your Samsung Galaxy Core Prime smartphone, eventually installing and enabling SuperSU on the device.
The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime must reach recovery mode at the end for it to work. The recovery mode happens automatically for the vast majority of people. If your Samsung Galaxy Core Prime smartphone refuses to get in recovery mode by itself, you need to get it done using the hardware buttons combination. Turn off the Core prime and boot it up holding the Power + Home + Volume Up keys at the same time and you will get in the recovery mode.
Attempting to root just after an over the air software update can sometimes cause devices to not boot. The new updates can bring new bootloaders with them and when that happens your device might not boot. You can report such problems over at the official XDA Developers thread made for the CF-Auto-Root tool.
