Through no fault of your own, sometimes the Windows Store can let you down. If you are signed up to be a Windows Insider, you might think that it has something to do with you running an unstable version of the operating system, but you can quickly dispel that myth by logging into another computer with the same account that is running an older version of Windows 10.
Such was my experience today when I found the issue on my laptop running the Creators Update and then logged into the desktop computer that is running on a stable version of the Anniversary Update. Here is what I found.
How to fix “Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help” in Windows 10
If you find the “Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help” message when trying to open the Windows Store application you can try clicking on the “Report this problem” link if you want, but that isn’t going to give you immediate assistance. Likewise, refreshing the page doesn’t typically offer much help either because when you do, you’ll likely see the same message again.
The message that the Windows Store shows suggests that the problem isn’t anything you can play with to fix, but there is something you can do to reset the Windows Store application—and hopefully, that gives you the chance to start using it again.
To get started on the reset, you need to open up the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key + R and then typing “wsreset.exe” and clicking on the “OK” button.
Doing so will open up what appears to be a Command Prompt window with nothing running, but over the next few minutes, it is going to be resetting the Windows Store. Don’t close the Window until it automatically opens up the Windows Store for you when it finishes.
If your computer is anything like mine, your Windows Store application will now open, and you can start downloading your apps again.
Of course, when it comes to problems of this nature, one solution is most likely not going to work for everyone. If the above guide didn’t work out for you, then you might be better off just waiting until the clock ticks over to tomorrow and trying again then when Windows developers might have solved the problem all by themselves.
