dotTech Promo: Free iSkysoft iMedia Converter! [24-hours only]

Update: This promotion is now over. Sorry to those that missed it! To avoid missing promotions in the future, consider subscribing to dotTech: RSS Feed | E-mail | Twitter | Facebook.

Last year dotTech and iSkysoft Studio came together to bring you multiple freebies. Now we are back; and once again we bring you one of iSkysoft Studios’ best products, iSkysoft iMedia Converter!

Software Description

The following is the official list of features for iSkysoft iMedia Converter (created by the developer) followed by a chart listing all the supported input formats, output formats, and electronic devices (also created by the developer):

(Click on the image to view list in full size.)

dotTech Advice

Despite what the name may imply, iSkysoft iMedia Converter is not a program aimed at iProducts. Rather, iSkysoft iMedia Converter is an all-in-one video converter, audio converter, and DVD ripper. (Yes, iSkysoft iMedia Converter can bypass DRM protection.) And, of course, iSkysoft iMedia Converter comes with those much loved basic editing capabilities that has become the trademark of Wondershare Software products (iSkysoft Studio is owned by Wondershare Software).

To put it simply, iSkysoft iMedia Converter is a terrific product. While I do wish it had better support for  mobile phones (specifically Samsung smartphones), iSkysoft iMedia Converter does allow you to customize output settings so don’t let the lack of pre-defined output profiles deter you from using this converter for your phone or any other electronic device. If you find iSkysoft iMedia Converter does not have a output profile for your device, simply go to a common video selection, pick the video format you want, and customize the settings to fall in line with what works with your device.

All in all, I highly recommend iSkysoft iMedia Converter.

Disclaimer: Please only use iSkysoft iMedia Converter for purposes deemed legal in your country/region. Ashraf, dotTech, and everyone else except yourself is not responsible for any gain or loss incurred by using iSkysoft iMedia Converter nor for any illegal activities done with iSkysoft iMedia Converter.

Freebie Details

For the next 24-hours, dotTechies can get iSkysoft iMedia Converter ($49 value) for free! This freebie does not come with free updates, but you are allowed to install/reinstall the product as long as you keep the registration information safe. However, please do not share your registration information with anyone. If iSkysoft Studios discovers the registration information is being shared and people are not going through the official channels to get it, they may blacklist the license(s) code and you will no longer be able to use iSkysoft iMedia Converter for free.

Before I spill the beans on the freebie, I would like to inform everyone of the second part of this promotion. As part of this promotion, anyone that wants a product with more features than iSkysoft iMedia Converter can purchase iSkysoft Video Converter Ultimate for a discounted price of $29 (regular price is $59). Although the software titles may imply otherwise, iSkysoft Video Converter Ultimate actually has more features than iSkysoft iMedia Converter. iSkysoft Video Converter Ultimate is the combination of various different iSkysoft Studios products; it can do everything iSkysoft iMedia Converter can do and more, such as burn DVDs and download streaming videos. iSkysoft Video Converter Ultimate can be purchased from the giveaway page at the $29 discounted price.

    @DavidYellow: Looks like Jinlei is on the ball. Email him for a key. Also, for the future, I typically start 24-hour freebies at 0700/0800 GMT depending on daylight savings time.

    @Bob Mason: Did you email Jinlei about it? I am sure he is more than willing to help you.

  • Bob Mason

    I had a problem with registering the program (see above), submitted a report, never heard back. So now I miss out on the promotion because the deadline for registering has passed?????

  • http://www.iskysoft.com Jinlei

    @DavidYellow: Hi, it is a pity that you missed the campaign, but I think we could provide an extra copy for you. Just send me an email (iskysoft@gmail.com) and I will email you the things you need.

  • http://www.iskysoft.com Jinlei

    @Stan: Hi, the merge option is at the bottom of the main interface – check “Merge into one file” before your start conversion , and then it will produce one individual file. Also you can further edit your video by tuning brightness, contrast and saturation. Hope it helps.

  • DavidYellow

    Thanks for quick reply Ashraf. I see I shall have to access website at least twice a day.

  • Ashraf

    @DavidYellow: Im sorry to hear you missed it. It may or may not be back later this year.

  • DavidYellow

    I subscribe to the RSS and look at it every day, usually at about 05:00 GMT. Yesterday was no exception. I did not see the offer then but did so this morning. It was my intention to download immediately after my toilet break and shower and, probably, take the upgrade offer to Ultimate. At 0730 GMT the offer has disappeared. I am so disappointed. Is there any way of getting it still? If not, is there any prospect of it coming round again?

  • Stan

    Well, I guess I am the absent minded non professor it was right on the bottom, thank you all again, I will keep my previous download happily.

  • Stan

    It is a good piece of software. I seem to have downloaded 3.0.3 version on 12/22/10 & couldn’t find the option to merge several files into one. where is that option? I assume this is the same version but I will uninstall this & download the current offering which seems to be the same version. If anyone can help me find the merge option it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Ashraf & ISkysoft.

  • Mike

    @Ashraf. @Jinlei– Thanks for your information (being able to install later, with the software and registration code obtained today). Just home from work now, at 9:30 pm …

  • Tortuga

    Hi Ash :D

    Just wanted to say Thanks!
    I still have it installed from last promotion (its the same version) but wanted to say it works very well /no problems to use or to register. Good product, great promo

    Peace

  • http://www.iskysoft.com Jinlei

    @Ted: Hi, only when the program has been registered properly, will it pop out a registration dialog with gray fields. Therefore, please check the output files, if there is no watermark attached to it, then you should have unlocked it successfully. However, if it is still a trial version, please email me for helps.

  • http://www.iskysoft.com Jinlei

    @MikeR: Hi, due to some reasons I did not check your comment punctually. Since this campaign was a little bit hurry, we did not got plenty time for preparing the keycode generator, which seems to cause the main problem for many users. So, having discussed with Ashraf, we decided to use an identical email address with one licensed key. We can ensure this program works on all computers and won’t make you confused. If you have any other questions to let us know, please drop a message to my email address iskysoft@gmail.com. Thanks.

  • http://www.iskysoft.com Jinlei

    @Galan Fords: Hi, thanks for your support to us. We will keep providing more useful tools in near future.

  • bernard

    The same misunderstanding with the licensed email. Now it works.

  • MikeR

    @Ashraf:

    Thanks, Ashraf. Finally. . . all is understood! This really is a pretty disastrous way of running a registration process though: the developer should have been much clearer in saying to enter the following:

    1. Licensed email: dottech_giveaway@iskysoft.com

    2. Your license key: ……………………………………………..

    Sadly, I’ve already uninstalled. But thanks for your input!

  • Galan Fords

    Thank you Ashraf and IskySoft for this nice giveaway – All in one: Rip DVDs, Remove protections/restrictions, Convert and Edit videos

  • Ashraf

    @MikeR: It will not work with your email address. You need to use the “Licensed email” shown in the email you were sent.

  • Ashraf
  • Ashraf

    @ddthesm: Glad to see it worked for you!

    @John K: You are welcome!

  • Ashraf
  • Ashraf

    @john barrentine: Glad to see it worked.

  • Ashraf

    @John K: Although you did disable NoScript, can you try it in a different browser?

  • MikeR

    Haven’t the inclination to mess around with this any longer — the developer’s website invites you to say how wonderful its products are. . . but then it can’t even manage a simple registration process.

    Like others here, I received my license key at the email address I’d provided to the developer, and I then used that exact same email address to register the product after installation, together with the license key.

    Result? Repeated failure. The registration process repeatedly warns that either the email address is wrong by virtue of not being the addy associated with the code (it isn’t) or I’ve downloaded the wrong product or version of the software (I haven’t.)

    Can’t be bothered to spend any more time with this so it’s uninstalled: a developer that can’t even manage the registration procedure isn’t a developer I’m going to trust to do, well, anything at all on my computer — and especially when there are plenty of good media converters out there already.

    @Jinlei: @Sherwood Tucker:

    I have the same issue, and when I start up the program, the pop up for registration isn’t loading. I have to manually click Help, Register. The Reg Popup then appears, but the fields are greyed out.

    @Sherwood Tucker:

    I have the same issue.

  • Carl

    @Jinlei:

    It has since been fixed by Ashraf to reflect today’s date. I wasn’t actually having troubles at the time, just pointing out that it was a bit confusing. In the meantime, I successfully installed and registered with no issues.

  • http://www.iskysoft.com/ Jinlei

    @Bob Mason: Hi, you will have to install the program properly, and then run it on your PC and wait for the registraiton dialog comes out. You can also send me a message with a screenshot describing your problem. My email address is iskysoft@gmail.com.

  • John K

    Jinlei and Ashraf, thanks very much for a brilliant freebie. Great job!

  • ddthesm

    For people having trouble, this is key:

    “When registering, use the email address provided in the email – not your own email address.”

    Thanks Ashraf!

  • Bob Mason

    I downloaded, got the email, but can’t type in the email address nor registration code. Put in a support request.

  • http://www.iskysoft.com/ Jinlei

    @baseballnan: Glad to know that you fixed it quickly. Just let us know if there is any further question. Your suggestions can help us make a better software. Thanks.

  • http://www.iskysoft.com/ Jinlei

    @John K: Hi, I have already sent you the registration key via email, please check it at your convenience. Thanks.

  • http://www.iskysoft.com/ Jinlei

    @Mike: Hi, please find your answer in the last comment #25. Hope it helps.

    @John K: @Mike: Hi, please find your answer in the last comment #25. Hope it helps.

  • http://www.iskysoft.com/ Jinlei

    @Carl: Hi, maybe there is a lack of explanation here. Yes the giveaway is available only in 24hrs, but if you can anticipate during this period and get your program successfully, we will be glad to help you with any problem in registration or tech things for a week. So long as you have received the product when the campaign is alive, you can register it in a week or longer (within our helps). Hope it helps.

  • john barrentine

    @Ashraf: Thanks for your help, sure is good to know there are people out there to help dummies like me

  • John K

    @John K: I am sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried a different e-mail address? Or a different browser? Do you have NoScript installed (if you use Firefox)?
    @John K: Did it work out for you?

    Taking your questions inn order, Ashraf:

    Yes, I tried a different e-mail addie. Firefox had NoScript installed but I gave the page full permission before filling in the form.

    So far it hasn’t worked out yet. I sent Jinlei the mail e asked for but have not yet heard from him. Still, hope springs eternal.

  • Ashraf

    @Jake Shakespeare: You are welcome!

  • Ashraf

    @john barrentine: Have you installed/registered iSkysoft iMedia Conveter in the past? If so it probably took that registration information. Are you getting any message telling you it is a trial? If not it is probably registered. Look in About, if it is registered it will say so.

  • Jake Shakespeare

    @Ashraf:

    Thanks, Ashraf.

  • john barrentine

    I downloaded the iskysoft media converter,when I opened the reg box, it would not let me install name ,or ser # .I’ve deleted everything, and reinstalled, same thing cant reg. could use some help please

  • Ashraf

    @Steel: Glad it worked out for you.

    @Ron2011: You are welcome!

    @Mike: You should be able to install it later.

    @Jake Shakespeare: When registering, use the email address provided in the email – not your own email address.

  • Jake Shakespeare

    I just downloaded it, and then clicked on the link provided in their email. I ran the program and entered the email address I’d provided, then copy-pasted the code in their email. The message said that either the email or the code was invalid. Neither of them are invalid. Any way to get this without spending the whole day emailing back and forth with them?

  • Mike

    Many thanks!

    Question: Does the software need to be installed and then registered today? Or is it enough to download the software and also to sign up and receive the registration code email–can one then install and use the registration code later? (Pressed for time today …)

  • Ron2011

    Thank you Ashraf and iSkysoft Media, your program rocks!

  • Steel

    When I didn’t get an email from iSkysoft It was because of Firefox. Per Ashraf’s advice, I tried Internet Explorer and got the email within a minute. Thanks for the help and the great software!

  • Ashraf

    @baseballnan: Glad to hear it!

  • Ashraf

    @stockel1949: You are welcome!

    @John K: I am sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried a different e-mail address? Or a different browser? Do you have NoScript installed (if you use Firefox)?

    @Jinlei: Thanks for coming here to support your product.

    For those that don’t know, Jinlei is a great guy.

    @Sherwood Tucker: Are you sure you didn’t download it previously? It may already be registered from the last time you downloaded it. (dotTech had a promo of this exact same software last year.)

    @Carl: Whoops, my bad. I must have been on crack when I wrote that. You are right this promo is for today only, June 9. Fixed, thanks.

    @John K: Did it work out for you?

    @baseballnan: Odd. It works for me. Can you try it on a different comp to see if you are having the same issue?

    @Steel: Same as I said to John K, have you tried a different e-mail, browser, etc.?

  • baseballnan

    Downloaded fine after receiving the reg code via email. Opened the program and entered the email and reg code and popup shows one or both invalid. Double checked that I put them in correctly which I did but still saying invalid….@baseballnan: figured this one out–DUH!

  • Steel

    Jinlei,
    I’m having the same problem John K. was having. I’m going to send you an email per your recommendation to John.

    The instructions are a bit confusing. This seems to be posted today, June 9th, but the detailed instructions say:

    Giveaway time-frame: This giveaway starts May 7, 2011 at 00:00 PST and ends May 7, 2011 at 24:00 PST. Users will be allowed to install/activate at later dates – just make sure you keep you registration details and program installer safe.

    @John K: Hi John K, thanks for joining the campaign made from iSkysoft Studio. Please check the junk mails to see if the registration letter is there. If not, just send me a notice (iskysoft@gmail.com) and I will get you the keycode. Thanks.

  • John K

    Having duly filled in all the fields I clicked “Get key code”. All the fields were emptied and I was back where I started. No e-mail with registration code either. Something must have gone wrong here.

  • http://www.webfresh.com.au njwood60

    Thanks heaps Ashraf and iSkysoft. I have been using iSkysoft video converter and it is the best video converter I have found. Easiest to use, especially for cropping videos which is so easy
    Happy to now have imedia converter

  • Mekong Mick

    Thanks Ashraf and iSkysoft for bringing this promo back. I think this is a fabulous piece of software. Managed to get installed on my lappy only last time before the promo expired. Trust me, I haven’t missed out this time – it’s now on the desktop as well.
    Thanks again.

  • stockel1949

    I will try this.

    Thank you
