Windows RT is being killed by Microsoft, will be merged into Windows Blue [Rumor]

Hot on the heels of a recent Windows Blue rumor comes another rumor: the impending death of Windows RT.

As I’m sure most of you know by now, Windows RT is the tablet-specific version of Windows 8 that runs on ARM processors and can only run Windows RT-specific apps from Windows Store (not all Windows programs). Maybe it was price. Maybe it was confusion. Mybe it was simply a bad product. Whatever the reason may be, Windows RT has not yet been received well by the masses. Quoting “sources from the upstream supply chain”, DigiTimes is reporting that, because of this lack of enthusiasm on the part of consumers, Microsoft is now planning on killing off Windows RT and merging it into Windows Blue.

It is unclear if this means Windows on ARM will exist but just without a different name or if Windows on ARM is dead for good. One thing is for sure; less choice, even confusing choice, is probably not so good for consumers. Let’s see what happens.

[@kalmly] Yeah, sure. And if they play their cards right, they will have a resurgence of sales like Coca Cola did after they tried the New Coke and went back to Coke Classic.

Maybe it was the Win RT only apps…?

MSFT needs to clean house, top to bottom. Not “too big to fail” and doing a very good job of it.

    Windows RT .

Now if they would just euthanize Win 8, ditch Blue, and concentrate on designing a decent OS again. I have a name for it: Windows Returns.

Seems that MS is slowly killing off MS nowadays.
