• Tech support is the most thankless, underpaid (in my experience), frustrating job in existence. I once had a lady call in with a minor problem, something that should have taken 5 minutes to fix. The trouble is that she kept jumping ahead and deleting or doing things. I finally had to tell her to stop and take her hands off the keyboard, she was in tears by this point, then take a deep breath and let it out, then tell me what she had just done.

    Luckily she had not FUBAR’d her entire OS. Once I got her calmed down I was able to walk her through a complete uninstall and reinstall – re-configure the program in question. It took 3/4 to 1 hour. For all of that she was one of the least frustrating customers.
