“Facts about the U.S. gun industry” [Infographic]

Guns are terrible you guys. I remember back when men went to war with swords and a shield, life was better then. I was a general of a great army, and I led my men to several victories on land and across the colored sea. But one night, everything changed for good. ‘Tis was the first time my men and I came across a weapon that can kill from afar. We were wiped out in mere minutes as arrows fell from the sky and into our muscular chests.

[@Jane Adams] No doubt Piers Morgan can write English but he’s the real termite peddling “bogus info.”

Not written by someone who knows the English language so just bogus info.

[@harry12] I thought about that, but 10 years ago the FBI estimated there were 300 million. I’m sure the number is up in 10 years. I think the information just isn’t well sourced.

I believe that should read, “…270 million civilian owned guns in the USA.”

    More Guns, Less Crime…

[@sl0j0n] I know a lot of people who own guns, too, and where I grew up you were almost a pariah if you didn’t own at least 2 or 3 firearms. I think one of the big disconnects between people who support gun ownership and people who don’t is that the two groups are so culturally different. In the south, and in rural America, guns are part of the culture and are still used for hunting. Not everyone gets their meat from a grocery store.

However, I don’t think there are 270,000,000 civilian gun owners in America. That’s 85% of the population (higher if you remove non-civilians), and most of the figures I’ve seen put that number in the 33% area.

    Hello, Ashraf.
Don’t know where you live [& don’t want to] but where I live, almost *EVERYONE* has gunS in their homes.
Before I became a Christian & sold most of mine, I had at least 6 pistols, 2 shotguns, & 3 rifles.
I kept 2; a shotgun pa gave me, & a .22 rifle my brother gave me.
Usually, people that are ignorant of guns are usually the people that don’t “like” guns. As for “guns” being “terrible”, guns in the hands of citizens & patriots gave YOU the FREEDOM of the press, to write whatever you want [as along as its ‘legal’], so-called “free speech”, freedom of religion, *all* the rights that ALL in “America” have &/or enjoy, even the ‘opportunities’ of the capitalistic system.
When I was young [40 years ago?] only the anti-American pro-Soviet communists, & their “useful idiots”, the “liberal intelligentsia” spoke out against “guns”; now every “useful idiot” does.
Too bad folks are so ‘brain-washed’ about guns; maybe its a sign that they need to grow up, & stop sucking at the teat of statist ‘journalism’, & the anti-American ‘lame-stream’ media. But I repeat myself.
BTW, all the guns are going to be very useful; at Armageddon.

    Have a GREAT day, Neighbors!

[@Ashraf] Yeah, some of these “infographics” are truly informational but several have been way off base and are too often nothing but adverts/propaganda by their sponsors.
Ash, are you OK with allowing these companies to distribute their SPAM on dottech for free?
BTW–I’m pretty neutral re: the gun issues but I DON’T like having bullshit shoved in my face.

[@Ashraf]I agree, I’m not sure where the error is, but that’s much too high. Nearly a quarter of the population is under the age of 18.

Do 270 million Americans really own guns? Sounds like a bloated number to me.
