If, for some reason, you’re unable to use your smartphone or tablet to directly post photos on Instagram, then you can always look for alternative ways to do so. Speaking of which, Gramblr does the exact thing that you wish for. It lets you upload and post your photos on Instagram using your PC or Mac.
What Is It and What Does It Do
Gramblr is a free desktop application that you can use to directly upload and post photos on Instagram. Plus, it is very easy to use. It lets you log-in to your Instagram account using your desktop and then you choose and upload the photo that you want. You can even share the direct link and web link of your photo to various social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
- Easy to use, easy to install
- Simple UI, stable and responsive
- Lets you upload and post photos on your Instagram account using your computer
- You can add captions to your photos
- You can share the photos that you’ve posted – just copy the direct link or web link of your photo then share it online
- You cannot upload and post photos that aren’t cropped and resized. Keep in mind that Gramblr only accepts square photos in JPG or JPEG format that won’t go any smaller than 650 x 650 pixels. The file size of your photo should be less than 500KB.
- There’s no progress bar so it’s difficult to tell whether the application is working or not.
- You cannot minimize the tool’s icon to the system tray area.
Needless to say, there aren’t a lot of tools that you can use to directly post photos on Instagram using your desktop. Fortunately, there’s Gramblr. Plus, it’s not that difficult to use. Just download its zip file to your computer and then extract its .exe file. After which, you click the .exe file to install the application. You will then be guided by a series of on-screen instructions.
Once installed, you will be asked to log in to your Instagram account. To do this, just type your username and password then click “Login”. Wait for a few seconds. Once you’re logged in, you will be asked to choose the photo that you want to upload. Select any photo from your computer. Just make sure that you abide the rules since Gramblr will only accept square photos in JPEG or JPG format with a minimum image size of 650 x 650 pixels. Furthermore, the file size of your photo must not be larger than 500KB. If you fail to meet these requirements, the desktop app will prompt you to redo the step.
Once you’ve chosen a photo, just click the “Upload” button and then write a caption. Click “Save Caption” to finalize your post and that’s it. You’re done. Anyways, you will still need to wait for a few minutes until you receive a confirmation. You will know if your photo has been successfully uploaded to your Instagram account because Gramblr will give you the direct link, web link, HTML code and BBC code for your photo. You can also use the web link to view your newly posted photo on Instagram (via web profile).
Anyways, I’ve been using this tool for quite some time now and so far, I haven’t encountered any problems with regards to posting photos. It’s just that you will still need to rely on third-party photo editing apps to crop and resize your images since this tool has its own set of rules and restrictions. Apart from this, Gramblr lacks a progress bar so you won’t really know what’s going on until the process is done. You won’t know if your photo has been successfully uploaded or not until you are redirected to the confirmation window. There’s also no way for you to minimize the tool’s icon to the system tray area plus it always stays on top of other windows which is quite bothersome especially if you’re dealing with multiple software and apps.
Conclusion and Download Link
Gramblr has its own share of downsides but all in all, it’s good enough. If the only thing that you want is to conveniently post your photos on Instagram even if you are not able to use your tablet or smartphone, then go ahead and give this tool a try.
