How to add a custom alarm clock to Firefox [Guide]

One thing that Firefox doesn’t include is an alarm clock that can provide notifications for you at specific times. However, the Simple Timer extension adds a customizable alarm clock to the Firefox toolbar. Then you can set the clock’s alarm to provide notifications.

Open the Simple Timer add-on page and click on the + Add to Firefox > Install Now buttons. Then restart the Firefox browser. If the clock is not visible on the toolbar, click the Open menu button and Customize. Then you can drag the clock onto the toolbar as in the shot below.

The clock icon doesn’t show the time. As such, you must right-click on it and select Clock from the context menu. Then you’ll have a numerical clock on the toolbar as below.

You can set the alarm by right-clicking the clock and selecting Options. That opens the window in the shot below. Click on Notifications and select the Enable audio notification check box. Choose from three alternative alarm audios by selecting the Fanfare, Chimes and Alarm Clock radio buttons. Alternatively, select Custom and click the Browse button to choose an audio file. Note that the audio must be in the new .ogg file format.

To select a specific time for an alarm notification, right-click the Simple Timer icon on the toolbar and select Notify me at. That opens the window below from which you can set up some alarm notifications. Enter notification text in the text box at the top of the window. You can choose a time for the notification from the Time text box. To select a specific day, click the On radio button and choose a date for the notification. Click the Add button to add it to the notifications list. Then the alarm notification pops up in the bottom corner of the browser window as below.

The add-on also includes options that customize the clock format and style. Open the Simple Timer Options window and select Clock for additional format options. To customize the clock’s size and fonts, click on Style. Select the Bold and Italic check boxes to format the clock’s text. In addition, you can also choose alternative font colors by selecting the Override text color check box and a color from the palette box.
