How to download and install iOS 9 final for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch [Tip]

iOS 9The official iOS 9 IPSW files are now available to download direct to your computer. Apple has made the firmware files for iOS 9 available so people can restore their devices through iTunes. This marks the final version of iOS 9 which is different from any of the other beta versions you might have installed before it. A beta version will still have many of the bugs a final version has ironed out. If you are one of the people who did install the recent beta 3 build, or any of the other beta build before it, you shouldn’t let that stop you from giving this final version a go. Here’s everything you need to know to install iOS 9 final on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

  • If your device wasn’t new enough to run the recent iOS 8 software updates, you cannot run iOS 9 either. You are stuck without any software updates until you update your device with something more recent.
