BEFORE WE BEGIN
- You must have the bootloader unlocked before starting the root Huawei Mate S on Android 5.1 Lollipop guide.
- You must have a custom recovery installed on the Huawei Mate S before starting this guide with learning how to root the device. The reason is because you need to access that custom recovery to install the root file. We cannot use a stock recovery to install the zip file.
HOW TO ROOT THE HUAWEI MATE S RUNNING ANDROID 5.1 LOLLIPOP
- Download the SuperSU file from here — it’s the updated SuperSU zip file you need specifically for this guide.
- Connect the Huawei mate S smartphone to the same computer where you have downloaded the SuperSU file.
- Transfer the SuperSU (copy and paste it) to the internal storage SD card on your smartphone. if you don’t have any room on the SD card you’ll need to delete data, make room and try again.
- Unplug the Huawei Mate S from the computer and completely power down the smartphomne.
- Reboot the Huawei Mate S into the custom recovery mode by pressing the key combination. Press Volume Up and the Power button together to enter the custom recovery mode.
- Navigate to the ‘Install’ option from the main custom recovery menu.
