These are the instructions to root Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G935F running on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update using the CF-Auto-Root tool by Chainfire. Chainfire has just released the CF-Auto-Root for a couple of the S7’s, and this is one of them.

REQUIREMENTS

• The following guide is intended for the SM-G935F variant of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge only — that’s the model number of the device. You can check out the model number of your S7 by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Model Number.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

• Enable the USB Debugging Mode on the Samsung Galaxy S7 by tapping on the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
• Anyone who doesn’t see the Developer Options menu from the Settings can find it by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Build Number 7 times and it will tell you that you are now using the S7’s handset as a developer. That’s just a way the OS inflates your ego and lets you know the Developer Options menu is available at the same time.
• Download and install the Samsung USB Drivers on your computer. Just extract the file on the desktop and then run the executable file that you can see. Follow the short series of instructions on your display to finish the installation and then come back to the guide.

HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 Edge SM-G935F RUNNING ANDROID 6.0 MARSHMALLOW

1. Download the updated CF-Auto-Root tool for the G935F version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from here.
2. Extract the package to the desktop of your computer by right-clicking the file > extract here from the menu.
3. Right-click the mouse on the Odin executable and choose to run it as an administrator.
4. Boot the Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone in download mode and connect it into the computer with the USB cable.
5. Check that your ID: COM port lights up and the Odin application tells you the device is added; if not, you need to install the USB drivers.
6. Click the AP button and upload your S7’s rooting file from the desktop.
7. Leave all of the default settings from the Odin flashing tool the same way you found them.
8. Click on the Start button and wait for the Odin flashing tool to root your device.
9. Do not touch anything until it says your device passed and it is about to reboot.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 will now automatically reboot to recovery mode. It should happen for the vast majority of S7’s using the guide. However, on the odd occasion that doesn’t happen, you will need to reboot it into recovery mode manually as soon as the flashing finishes. You do that by pressing down on the hardware key combination for recovery mode.
