Bring Google Voice (text, talk, and notifications) to your desktop with GVNotifier [Windows]

Google Voice is an awesome Google service that lets you use one universal number with any telephone and line you might own–calling or texting. If you’re a user of this extremely convenient service, you might have been looking for a program that lets you text and listen to voicemail on your computer–and GVNotifier just might be that.

GVNotifier is great. It lets you look at all of your contacts, and, with each of them, start or continue a conversation. You can also view your call history and both the transcriptions of your voicemails and the recordings themselves.

And of course, what would a program named GVNotifier be without some notifications? GVNotifier pops up a small window in the lower right corner when you get a notification, and stealthily hides away when not needed. You can also check for messages and sync contacts from the Windows 7 jumplist.

If you’re a Google Voice user, GVNotifier is a must-have. If you don’t have Google Voice, I recommend looking into Google Voice. It’s a great service that lets you keep one universal number for any number of devices, and along with GVNotifier and the official Google Voice apps for Android and iOS, it’s perfect for anyone with more than one phone. GVNotifier is the perfect complement for it.
