Savi Contacts is a new app meant to provide an alternative to the iPhone’s default contact manager. Basically Savi Contacts allows you to do anything that the default manager can do, but adds several other features to enhance the user experience.
The app is divided into four sections, Contacts, Groups, Favorites, and Message. The Contacts section contains a list of all your contacts and any groups they belong to, which I will get to next. Clicking on the contact will bring up a clever and useful set of actions which immediately allow you to call, Facetime, SMS, or email the person, which basically eliminates a few more button presses you would normally have to make. This section also provides the ability to edit your contacts, mark a contact as favorite, add a contact to a group, or share a contact’s information through email.
The section that I think users will appreciate the most is the groups section. You basically get to set up an infinite number of groups and clicking on any them will reveal the SMS and email actions in order to contact everyone in the group. The names of the groups are then also added to the top bar of the contacts screen for easy access to them. Savi Contacts also includes a Favorites section and a Message section that allows you to create any action from scratch. There is also a full search mechanism and a few minor option choices in a preferences that you can modify.
My experience with this new app is mostly a positive one. The features included are quite valuable, but I will say that there were a few button clicks that took a little longer than I had hoped, but those are the types of things that I expect to be cleaned up quickly. It is worth mentioning that there is an upgraded version of this app called Savi People that provides a truckload of added features.
