Not long ago, I wrote about a young teen that had been arrested and jailed for “terroristic threats” which he made on Facebook. As it turns out, an anonymous source has posted the $500,000 bail for 19-year-old Justin Carter.

After playing a game of League of Legends, Carter continued an argument which spilled over to his Facebook page. Another gamer accused him of being crazy, to which Justin responded, “I’m [expletive deleted] in the head alright, I think I’ma SHOOT UP A KINDERGARTEN.”

Although it wasn’t exactly the brightest statement ever made publicly, one can see that there’s room for interpretation there. Carter’s parents solidified that fact by saying their son followed up that comment with “LOL” and “J/K,” which both imply that he was only kidding around. A woman in Canada didn’t find Justin very funny, and called the police in regards to the Facebook comments. The rest is history.

As reported by Ars Technica, Officer McKay (first name undisclosed) of the Comal County Jail, confirmed that Justin has indeed posted bail and has since been released. MSNBC claims an “anonymous good Samaritan” freed the young man.

Carter’s family actually started a petition at Change.org which called for his release. As of now, the petition page has yet to be updated with said news. The petition currently has over 123,000 signatures, which happens to be well over its 26,809 signature goal.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Carter from here on out. Obviously, he will be required to visit a court of law real soon.
