New awesome exosuit allows divers to stay underwater for 50 hours

Since the dawn of time, humans have been attempting to traverse the ocean’s depth without drowning, or being eaten by sea monsters such as the Kraken. Well, times are a changing, as man now has the means to travel up to 1,000 feet below the ocean with an all new Exosuit.

It’s an awesome thing, because it also allows the individual inside to spend hours below the ocean spying on marine life, along with the thousand year search for mermaids. From what we understand, this Exosuit is capable of delivering up to 50 hours of life support to the wearer, which can be seen as a huge step forward.

There’s also a 1.6 horsepower water jet thrusters on the suit, along with 18 rotary joints and powerful LED lights for seeing in the dark.

“Our access to these deeper open-water and reef habitats has been limited, which has restricted our ability to investigate the behavior and flashing patterns of bioluminescent organisms, or to effectively collect fishes and invertebrates from deep reefs,” John Sparks, a curator in the American Museum of Natural History’s Department of Ichthyology, said in a statement. “The Exosuit could get us one step closer to achieving these goals.”

It’ an interesting suit, and I personally love the technology behind it. Still, I hope for a day when these suits will be thinner and also have a built in power supply.
