You’ll probably need to install a custom recovery before you can install a custom ROM on the Sprint galaxy Note 4, since you must flash the zip file through the custom recovery. As you probably know, the stock recoveries that come with Android by default don’t allow this feature. Further, you won’t get far during our root access guide without a custom recovery either. Here’s all you need for installing the recovery:

REQUIREMENTS

• You are only to follow this guide if you have the Sprint variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. You can double-check that by heading to the About Device menu and looking for the model number to read SM-N910P. If you see those digits, you are in luck.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

• It’s advised you download and install the USB drivers on your Windows computer before starting the steps. That way you know you won’t have any driver issues during the guide.
• Understand that you do indeed void any warranty you might have left. Moreover, Samsung devices usually have an additional security measure in place called Knox. Knox further complicates warranty matters. Research the warranty further before starting if that concerns you.
• You won’t get far without USB Debugging Mode enabled: Settings > Developer Options > check the box that’s there for the USB Debugging option. Once you navigate out of the Settings it will remember your preference.
• Sometimes people cannot find the Developer Options to enter. Solve that issue by heading to Settings > About Device > Tap the build number seven times until it’s unlocked.

HOW TO INSTALL TWRP RECOVERY ON THE SPRINT SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4

1. Download the TWRP recovery from here.
2. Download Odin from here.
3. Unzip both the Odin and custom recovery files on the desktop of the computer.
4. Switch off the device completely by holding in the Power button for ten seconds.
5. Reboot it in Download Mode: Power + Home + Volume Down keys at the same time and then finish by letting all three keys go before pressing the Volume Up at the next screen.
6. Connect the device to the computer with the USB cable.
7. Click the PDA/AP button in Odin and browse the desktop for the extracted TWRP recovery file.
8. Click the Start button without making any adjustments to Odin’s default Settings.
