Japan’s new train app can save you from hot and crowded trains

For Japanese commuters that frequent the East Japan Railway, a newly released app has a feature that can save them from hot, sweaty, crowded and mostly hell-like trains. The new app for JR East contains many of the features you’d expect from an app of this kind like maps, arrival times and more.

But it has another feature that can show you how crowded each car of the train is, what the current temperature is and basically whether or not you should stay the heck away from a certain car. Besides avoiding uncomfortable situations, you could theoretically line yourself up before a train arrives in a less-crowded to ensure you’re able to get in.

Now if only other train lines around the world could be like this. I can think of a good amount that desperately need this app.
