Free Paragon Virtualization Manager 2010 (v9.5)!

Missed out on Paragon Virtualization Manager back in May? Well here is your chance to get it again. Virtualization is a technology that has been discussed on dotTech many times in the past, such as my article on Disk2vhd, my article on Paragon Go Virtual or Locutus’ three-part series on virtual machines. Paragon Virtualization Manager is program that provides functionality similar to Disk2vhd and Paragon Go Virtual (it is the shareware version of Paragon Go Virtual), but adds in more features: Paragon Virtualization Manager can virtualize your computer and devirtualize it. Here is the official description of the software (as per the developer):

Easily migrate a Windows-based computer to a virtual environment (P2V) and vice versa (V2P). Work with virtual disks from one easy-to-use interface of Virtualization Manager, without starting a virtual machine: migrate from one virtual environment to another (V2V), exchange data between your physical environment and the virtual one, perform any partitioning operations and more. Recover the OS startup ability after a system migration to a different hardware or unsuccessful virtualization by a 3rd party tool.

These are the major features as per the developer:

  • Migrate a Windows-based computer to a virtual environment (P2V)
  • Migrate from a virtual environment to physical (V2P)
  • Virtualize system from its backup image (P2V)
  • Migrate from one virtual environment to another (V2V)
  • Recover the OS startup ability after system migration to a different hardware or unsuccessful virtualization by a 3rd party tool (P2P and P2V Adjust)
  • Clone a partition or an entire hard disk
  • Exchange data between your physical environment and the virtual one, or between a virtual disk and its snapshots
  • Accomplish virtual drive partitioning (create, format, delete, move, resize etc.)

If users want to know dotTech’s opinion about Paragon Virualization Manager, one can read dotTech’s article on Paragon Go Virtual (the freeware version of Paragon Virtualizer Manager) or dotTech’s review of Paragon Virtualization Manager 2009.

    @RichU:
    I downloaded and installed the giveaway more than once so Softpedia either did their writeup based on a different version or the information is just inaccurate. There are no Softpedia reviews on this giveaway but there is a disclaimer at the bottom that begins “Please be aware that Softpedia accepts no responsibility for the software you are downloading. The same applies to the information provided about the software products listed, as the producer can modify it without notifying Softpedia…”

    “To get Paragon Virtualization Manager 2010 for free, follow these simple directions:

    I have the previous version from giveawayoftheday.com. I have tried on several computers, but after installing the current dottech.org version, cannot find anything that says build# 10515. I get build 9048 and some files have build 10448??????
    Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks

    @Karl:

    Thanks so much for posting that. I was going nuts because each time I would install the “new” giveaway it would still say build 9048 (05.11.09 ), but a later build number had been shown on this site. Now I see that I already had the latest build, but only some of the files had later build numbers.

    Thanks. How is Paragon Virtualization Manager 2010 comparing with Symantec Endpoint Virtualization Suite. Exist the possibility to make the ‘virtualization’ of (only one) aplications in a sandbox ?

    What’s different between this version and the Paragon Partition Manager 11 Personal – Twitter promo they gave away at the end of Sept.?

    Also Ash., you might want to define a default background colour in your theme, since on my comp. I have a different colour set in Firefox if there is no colour specified in the coding and it makes the page look different then how you wanted it.

    @Tortuga:
    Possibly the pro & personal are one in the same. The web site only lists the Pro under Home & Office. The registration page clearly says “personal”. When I compare the Pro version I purchased with the Personal version offered on the giveaway they are identical except the title neither of which says Pro or Personal. The gist may be that the giveaway is for personal use only. Here are the details from the help about of the Pro version I purchased with the giveaway version (darn .. no update for me):

    Giveaway / Personal version:

    Paragon Virtualization Manager™, version 9.5, build 9048 (05.11.09 )

    Components versions:

    Paragon Base Services Library, version 1.1, build 9048 (05.11.09 )
    hdm.dll, version 10.0, release 10, build 10448
    biont.dll, version 10.0, release 10, build 10448
    biont.sys, version 10.0, release 10, build 10448

    Purchased / Professional version:

    Paragon Virtualization Manager™, version 2010, build 9048 (05.11.09 )

    Components versions:

    Paragon Base Services Library, version 1.1, build 9048 (05.11.09 )
    hdm.dll, version 10.0, release 10, build 10448
    biont.dll, version 10.0, release 10, build 10448

    Dear Ash

    Thanks for the Freebie. Very nice! Instructions nice & clear as usual :D

    Now … Am I blind, or the page for the Personal version on the Paragon site does NOT exist????
    I’ve searched via Google, via the site itself, via Softpedia … Nothing!!
    Can only find the Pro pages. What am I doing wrong?
    This giveaway is for the Personal version, right??!!!

    If anybody finds it, please do post.
    THANKS :)

    To all who create and run VMs: this is a very useful tool .. get it while you can! I paid for the 2010 version build 9048 (05.11.09) so this looks like an update for me.

    Ashraf, glad to see you back in action (with quite a bang at that) .. hope your studies are going well.

    Thanks Ashraf!
