Man goes face-to-face with a hungry polar bear (and lives to tell about it) [Video]

Gordon Buchanan is a wildlife cameraman who has been filming dangerous animals for the past 20 years. His latest endeavor sees him going into polar bear territory and capturing footage for BBC’s ‘The Polar Bear Family and Me’ program, which aired on the 7th, 8th, and 9th of this month and can probably be watched online somewhere.

During this endevour, Buchanan obviously came face-to-face with many polar bears. Below are some photos and a video of an instance when a clearly hungry polar bear encricled Buchanan for 45 minutes, trying her best to make him her next meal. You’ll notice that Buchanan isn’t exactly face-to-face with the beast — he is safely in a “pretty much bomb proof” glass cube that protects him from the onslaught. Check it out:

@Geert: Yes, he is protected but that does not mean that the cube is indestructible. Did you ever watch that tv show featuring the Pumphrey brothers in which they destroyed entire buildings with their bare hands. Instead of breaking through doors to enter they would kick through the outside wall or the roof. The point is that things can fail in ways that are not expected.
