I know it’s important to learn how to fix your car up, and it’s especially important when you run into unexpected emergencies on the road. But despite that, not all of us are capable of solving our car problems. This augmented reality app isn’t an actual product that’s out on the market just yet, but it shows the huge potential AR can bring into things like car maintenance for beginners and the like.
It’s called the ARmedia Augmented Reality 3D tracker, and it’s from a company called Inglobe Technologies. The demo that you see above is performed on a Ford model, with the app on iOS as a concept. But imagine if they took this further in the future — encyclopedic knowledge of all the cars on the market in one app, a Google Glass version even? Either way, it’s impressive seeing an implementation of augmented reality technology that isn’t simply pointing in you different directions using GPS data and instead understands real world objects.
