E3 game spotlight — Destiny

Destiny Logo

Destiny is the latest game from superstar developer Bungie of Halo fame. If you don’t know what the Halo series is by now, then it’s safe to say you’re a little behind the times. Rumored to be something like a first person shooter MMO, we do know one thing for sure- the game is going to be heavily centered on a Sci-Fi theme of some kind (no brainer, right?).

System: PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One

Unlike the Halo series which was exclusive to the Xbox consoles, it looks like Bungie’s Destiny will be available cross-platform.

Destiny will follow humanity’s last stand as they fight to ward off some kind of alien species determined to take Earth and the “Last City,” as their own. We don’t know much about the story thus far, nor do we know much about the gameplay mechanics. We do know the game will be a first-person shooter based heavily on Sci-Fi elements, similar to the Halo series. It seems like Bungie is staying pretty close to their roots.

The game is set to be published by Activision, and Bungie is expected to develop an entire series based in the Destiny universe. The first game is expected to release sometime after the end of 2013.

As you can see from the promo video, it looks like an incredibly gorgeous game. As we’ve learned time and time again though, graphics aren’t everything.

Who’s excited for this one? Are you okay with a cross platform first-person MMO hitting consoles? Defiance utilizes the same kind of formula, but we all know where that game went.
