E3 game spotlight — Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassins Creed IV Black Flag

Assassin’s Creed IV is the next title in the acclaimed series. Assassin’s Creed III saw the end of Desmond’s story, so originally it was not clear whether or not the next game will include future elements. As the name implies, ACIV will follow pirate assassin Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Connor from ACIII.

System: Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Wii-U, PC

Ubisoft has since announced that a new team will be developing Assassin’s Creed IV and that it will feature a whole slew of new gameplay elements, characters and settings.

Apparently, the modern-day portion of the game will center on Abstergo Industries and the research team that is digging into Kenway’s memories.

Naval combat from ACIII will return, and it’s safe to say that it will probably be featured more prominently seeing as this game has a Caribbean setting. Swimming will play a role too along with underwater combat.

Of course, the signature hidden blades will return along with a bunch of new weapons to dispatch Kenway’s enemies with. Here’s the official gameplay trailer from Ubisoft’s E3 presentation:

That gameplay looks fantastic! It looks like the same old Assassin’s Creed that we’ve grown to know and love, and who doesn’t want to play as a bunch of pirates?
