At one point in our lives, we all wanted to have a magic carpet that allows us to float in the sky like Aladdin. It’s never too late for dreams to come true as MiCasa Labs have come up with a real-life magic carpet, but it might not possess the strength to carry a human.
The prototype in its current form is able to lift a cat or dog up to a few centimeters. However, these animals will have to weigh up to 5 pounds or things might not turn out as planned. With more research, MiCasa Labs hope to support human weight of up to 22 pounds then move on from there.
To get the carpet to levitate, MiCasa Labs used neodymium magnets, which from our knowledge is the strongest form of magnet available to man. We can’t get our heads around what purpose a flying carpet would serve, maybe such a thing could come in handy whenever us lazy humans require a heavy object to be lifted across a room.
MiCasa Labs is not only known for creating floating carpets. The company created a plastic ball with a kitchen on the inside, and a rocking chair that charges your Apple iPad among other crazy things. It is quite clear MiCasa Labs engineers are free thinkers and just a little bit on the crazy side with these flamboyant ideas.
Unfortunately, MiCasa has no plans at the moment to make this flying carpet available for public consumption. Things might definitely change in the near future, but for now, all we can do is continue dreaming of owning this bad boy if even just to have it floating in our living rooms without a purpose in the world.
