It was just announced that since the PS4 has launched on November 15, there has been over 38 years of gameplay streamed on Twitch and Ustream. There have been 800,000 broadcasts and the system has had millions of spectator sessions.

10 percent of all the content streamed through Twitch has come from the PS4 since its launch and the games that have received the most views include Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Killzone: Shadow Fall. The Share button on Sony’s controller, the DualShock 4, has also been used at least 10.9 million times.

It seems that Sony’s decision to allow people to stream for free has paid off for them and they acknowledge that making it easy for people to share their experiences has gone beyond anything they could have expected.

“PlayStation 4 is specifically designed so people can share their gaming experiences and interest in streaming live gameplay has surpassed our wildest expectations,” said Shuhei Yoshida, who is president of Sony Worldwide Studios, via statement. “We’re very excited to see gamers embrace live streaming from their PS4 system and we look forward to seeing how PlayStation gamers advance social gaming in the coming years.”
