Microsoft aims to improve Xbox One’s social features with new update

Microsoft is looking to make significant improvements to the Xbox One’s interface with upcoming update.

The update will hopefully fix or at least attempt to start the fixes on the problems concerning the Xbox One’s social features. The main problem with the features, which include friends list, party system and achievements, is that they all have their own apps, as opposed to just being built into the Xbox One’s operating system.

Marc Whitten, who is Xbox’s Chief Product Officer, addressed these concerns in an interview he did with Engadget.

“The feedback we’ve gotten is pretty valid; some of the social stuff is hidden or harder to use than it was on the Xbox 360,” Whitten said. “So you’re gonna see us come out with an update where, well, we’re going to fix those things. As a person who’s been pretty involved in building Xbox Live for the last decade, I take it pretty seriously when people say it’s harder to get into a party, and the defaults aren’t right, and I don’t like the model.”

There hasn’t been a date set for the update, but you can bet Microsoft will want to get it out soon. To be fair though, it took years for them to get the Xbox 360’s interface to where it was, and it is still only a few months after the launch of Microsoft’s newest console.
