[Android] GetJar Gold now offers over 100 paid apps for free

I wrote about GetJar Gold a while back. Since then I have been posting individual articles on some GetJar Gold freebies which I thought were noteworthy. Recently GetJar Gold passed the 100 mark in the number of paid apps it offers for free. To save you the time of looking through all of GetJar Gold to find an app that interests you, I have typed up a list of all the apps offered via GetJar Gold as of December 28, 2011; and I have alphabetized the list and categorized the list into Games and Not Games.

The following are all the paid apps available for free from GetJar Gold as of December 28, 2011; you can either read through this whole list or search for specific apps by pressing Ctrl + F on your keyboard:

All of the above apps can be had from the GetJar Gold section of your GetJar app. Instead of trying to look through the whole GetJar Gold section for the specific apps you want, I suggest using the search box in the top-right corner of the GetJar app — it will be quicker that way. If you don’t have the GetJar app, you must download it and install it on your Android device before you can get any GetJar Gold apps for free. (You must sideload the GetJar app.)

Feel free to share what GetJar Gold apps you think are the best in the comments below.

Thanks Ashraf, very useful, but it will be better if you can add some icons or screenshots for these apps.

@Bruce Fraser: There is a difference but price isn’t one of them. The difference is the apps in GetJar Gold are paid apps that are being offered for free. The rest of GetJar has free apps that are regularly free apps which you can grab for free from Android Market, too.

    You are welcome. :-)

Thanks, Ashraf, for keeping me straight.
That means, then, that the “Gold” means nothing. In other words, there is no difference between GetJar and GetJar Gold. I kind of, sort of, recall that back in the beginning, Gold was the free section. If that was the case, it’s now irrelevant.

@Bruce Fraser: GetJar actually has no paid apps at all. All apps on GetJar are 100% free — either free apps for paid apps for free. That said, that quote is absolutely correct (duh its from their website, haha) — GetJar makes money via advertisements. If you look at GetJar Gold you will see “Sponsored” apps sprinkled throughout the list. Those are ads. GetJar gets paid by them.

I’ve often wondered how GetJar Gold makes money, when it gives away things for free. In fact, it PAYS the developers every time one of their Gold apps is downloaded. So I asked Google to find out for me. Here’s what I found:

    1) Only the Gold part of GetJar is free. By drawing users to its website, some browse the paid section and buy items there. [http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/getjar-pulls-amazon-50-premium-android-apps-news/]

    2) Oh, why not ask GetJar itself? (Duh!). Here’s an item from their FAQ page:

    Q. How do GetJar makes money?
    A. Answer – GetJar generates revenue through its PPD (pay per download) system which allows developers to get premium visibility in GetJar’s store and distribution partners by bidding for ad slots. Developers can geo-target campaigns by country, carrier and/or handset and bid whatever amount they are prepared to pay for each download. A daily maximum budget gives developers a way to control their costs and developers only pay for the downloads they incur. Additional products like Application Download Page and Apps Catalogue Express (ACE) in addition to partnerships with carriers and OEMs contribute to GetJar’s reach and traffic and as a result help generate additional revenue.
