How to install ClockworkMod Recovery Touch on the HTC One X (GSM) international version [Guide]

ClockworkMod recovery is one of the most famous custom recoveries for devices based on Android, which will let you do advanced backup and restore, USB mounting from recovery, SD card partitioning, ability to install or update both stock and custom ROMs, etc. ClockworkMod Recovery Touch gives you the ability to utilize your device’s touchscreen interface (as well as the physical buttons), while the usual ClockworkMod recovery uses only the physical buttons on Android devices (Volume up, Volume down, Home, etc).

This guide will help you to install ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery Touch (or just the non-touch version of CWM recovery) on your HTC One X. This guide is specifically for the GSM international version of HTC One X (Quad Core Tegra 3). Please do not try this on your AT&T, Rogers or Telstra versions (Snapdragon S4) of HTC One X.

This guide needs you to have unlocked the bootloader of your HTC One X. Proceed at your own risk.

Before We Begin

Before starting off with the procedures to install CWM recovery on your device, make sure that you are ready with the following:

How To install/flash ClockworkMod recovery (touch or non-touch) on HTC One X

To install ClockworkMod recovery on your HTC One X, follow the steps below:

  • Power off your device by keeping the power button pressed for 10 seconds.
  • Press and hold the ‘Volume down‘ and ‘Power‘ buttons (Volume down + Power).
  • Highlight the Fastboot option from the list using the Volume up or down keys and use the Power button to select the option.
  • Connect your HTC One X to your computer via USB.
  • Open a command prompt in your computer (First, press Win + R to launch the Run dialog, then enter “cmd” in the dialog box).
  • First, change the working directory of the command window to the directory where you had placed the CWM recovery file (recovery-clockwork-touch- or recovery-clockwork- using the command “cd directorylocation” without quotes (for example, “cd c:\android“).
  • Then, in the command prompt, enter:
    • fastboot flash recovery¬†recovery-clockwork-touch-
    • fastboot flash recovery¬†recovery-clockwork-
  • You can unplug and reboot your phone after the process finishes.
  • Congrats! You now have ClockworkMod recovery installed on your device.

To access CWM recovery on your HTC One X:

  • Power off your device.
  • Hold down Volume down and Power buttons (Volume down + Power) until your screen responds.
  • Choose the RECOVERY option from the list to boot into CWM recovery.
