Requirements

This guide is applicable only for limited models of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900, SM-N9005, SM-N900T, SM-N900P, SM-N900W8, SM-N900S, SM-N9002, SM-N9006, SM-N9008, SM-N9009) running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. If the model number of your device is SM-N900A, please refer to this guide. Proceed at your own risk.

Before We Begin

Get ready with the following before starting off:

• Download the rooting package for your device model. Be careful to choose the proper one.
• Download and install Samsung Galaxy Note 3 drivers (if you haven’t done so already). Restart your PC after the driver installation.

How To Root Samsung Galaxy Note 3

• Extract the rooting package you had downloaded earlier.
• Make sure the device is disconnected from your computer.
• Open the file Odin3-vX.X.exe.
• On the Odin window, click on the PDA button.
• Choose the file CF-Auto-Root-….tar.md5 (the filename would depend on your device model), which you had extracted earlier.
• Turn off the device.
• Boot into Download Mode by keeping the ‘Volume Down’, ‘Home’ and ‘Power’ buttons pressed (Volume Down + Home + Power), until you see a Warning! screen. Then, press the ‘Volume Up’ button to enter Download mode.
• Connect the device to your computer via a USB cable.
• Do not make any other changes and make sure that the ‘Repartition‘ option is not selected.
• Click the Start button to start the rooting process.
• Wait for the device to reboot.
• If the device didn’t boot into Recovery mode and the rooting didn’t take place, just try repeating the steps again.
• If it still doesn’t get rooted, untick ‘Auto-Reboot‘ in Odin and then after flashing, take out the battery, wait for some time and re-insert the battery, and boot into recovery mode manually by pressing the Volume Down + Home + Power key combo. This should do the job.
• Congrats! If everything went fine, you should be having a rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in your hand!
