About iOS Apps of the Day
iOS has over 600,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our iOS Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! [Subscribe to our iOS section to never miss an article: RSS Feed | E-mail]

Apps for June 3, 2012
Phone Drive
Phone Drive is an app that will store files from your computer to your device. Unlike other apps, this one will not only store them, but they will also open a wide variety of files. This app includes a document viewer, a PDF reader, a music player, an image viewer, a voice recorder, a text editor, and a file manager. It also supports various functions like delete, move, copy, email, share, zip, unzip, and create folders plus a bunch more you can utilize from within this app.
In order to transfer files from your computer to the device, you have four options you can send over a Wi-Fi connection. These options are an HTTP Bonjour Name, HTTP IP Address, FTP Bonjour Name, or an FTP IP address so you can take your pick at whatever you are more comfortable with. You can also share files through your USB connection to the computer via iTunes File Sharing. You can even share files using the iPhone Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Transfer.

TypeLink
TypeLink is a cloud based personal wiki page that you can keep your notes handy instead of the old school way which are pieces of paper that can be lost easily. All you need to do is create an account, and you get 10 pages free. If you need more you can pay the developer $5 per year for unlimited pages. You can add or organize your pages either on your iOS device or your computer. Once you create an account your home page will have helpful hints on how to use this service including YouTube videos to explain what you are doing if you were on your computer.
You don’t need to remember any wiki syntax, and whenever you create links like web pages or emails they are created automatically. You can share notes with anyone with a simple URL page, and you can have them edit the pages if you want. Your links are color coded to indicate whether they are public, private or shared for editing. Also with your computer, you can import and export your pages in a batch rather than one by one.

CrisisOnMars is a space ship flying game that the object is to collect the energy orbs in each mission you are assigned to. You have the help from “Alice” which is a computer that walks you through certain parts of the game. If you need more information on how to play the game, you can select it on the main screen. This game has eight different space ships to choose from, 24 different levels, and 8 special time trial missions to make this game very challenging even if you aren’t really into flight simulators.

dotTechies: We have tested all the apps listed above. However, iOS Apps of the Day articles are not intended as “reviews” but rather as “heads-up” to help you discover new apps. Always use your best judgement when downloading apps, such as trying trial/free versions before purchasing paid apps, if applicable.
