Apple admits iPhone battery life sucks in iOS 5, promises a fix “in a few weeks”

Does your shiny new iPhone 4S – or old but newly updated iPhone 4/3GS – have sucky battery life? You are not the only one. After weeks of complaining by its customers, Apple has admitted there are bugs in iOS 5 that are causing some devices to excessively drain battery. Being not satisfied with only recognizing the issue, Apple has also announced they will release an update that will “address” the battery life issue “in a few weeks”. It appears the “few weeks” time frame may be closer than ya’ think because Apple just released iOS 5.0.1 Beta to developers; one of the changes mentioned for iOS 5.0.1 is a fix for “bugs affecting battery life”.

So the stage is set to right the wrongs of iOS 5.0.0; let’s just hope Apple delivers as promised.

@Mike: I agree, this is a refreshing change. Not too many manufacturers are quick to admit mistakes/issues; Apple themselves have not been very benevolent when it has come to admitting they made a mistake — see iPhone 4 antennagate.
