Verizon offers new $5-a-day data plan, feels some people are stupid or desperate enough to get it

Verizon has a new option for those who like to use their mobile devices away from Wi-Fi and still want faster speeds. Now you can get a prepaid plan that allows you to use up to 300MB a day. It only costs $5 a day.

While it might not be an ideal plan for someone who wants to use it every day, the prepaid plan can come in handy if you are getting ready to take a trip or have somewhere you are going to be waiting a long time. You purchase the data and then the plan expires 24 hours later or when you hit 300MB whichever comes first.

“While many tablet users choose to connect to the Internet via a Wi-Fi connection in their home, airport or hotel, many people are discovering times that a cellular network is needed or desired. For example, if Wi-Fi isn’t available in a specific location or the security of a public Wi-Fi network is questionable, cellular is the way to go.” Verizon stated on their blog.

There will be no activation fees for the daily prepaid plans. For those interested Verizon also offers a monthly Share Anything plan that allows you to share your data limits with different devices. These plans start at $10 a month.
