After installing a bitcoin ATM in Vancouver last year, Robocoin has announced that it will be bringing the ATMs to the US later this month. The first bitcoin ATMs in the US will be located in Seattle and Austin, Texas.
The machines will allow users to buy and sell bitcoin, either by trading in their bitcoins for cash or depositing money in exchange for more bitcoin. The bitcoin will be accessed via a virtual wallet app on users’ smartphones and the machines will come equipped with scanners that can read government IDs like driver’s licenses and passports to confirm identity.
Robocoin says that it also plans to install ATMs in Europe and Asia next.
